Archive - Lightning Round Podcast 2021
February 2021 - Episodes 1-2
Episode 1 - 02/20/2021 - The inaugural episode is in the books and it’s basically an introduction to me, my background, books, and my intended goal with the podcast.
Episode 2 - 02/27/2021 - In Episode 2, I definitely illustrate why I titled my show the "Lightning Round." In this episode, I spend way too much time discussing current events surrounding the AG nominations, Apple's most recent act of tom-foolery, sheep-like behavior of the woke mob in corporate America in a "hold my beer" moment, and the left's most recent attempt to strip away your Second Amendment rights (in the name of COViD of course). And, as we’ve learned from previous interviews, I tend to get distracted by shiny things due to my self-diagnosed un-medicated ADD, so follow along as I grab a story outline from the vault that I wrote three years before the global pandemic. It’s spooky how close I got to what we are experiencing. Which then, of course dovetails into a discussion about gas prices and my reasoning behind certain investment strategies. Because, ya know, those topics are related. Eventually though, I wrap up the show with a brief discussion regarding your electrical options for your off-grid and/or societal collapse planning.
March 2021 - Episodes 3-6
Episode 3 - 03/06/2021 - In Episode 3, I work myself up into a tizzy, for your benefit, as I discuss the news and current events surrounding cancel culture, more job killing, nomination withdrawals, global perceptions of our weakness when a Democrat is in office, voting laws passing the House, and migration caravans. After all of that, I tempt fate by interviewing my wife who is a Biology teacher to discuss the science behind coronaviruses and vaccines.
Episode 4 - 03/13/2021 - In Episode 4, I discuss the latest round of stimulus packages and what I think that truly means for us as a nation. Then I regale you with the tale of what worked and what didn't with my maple syrup making project and what I would do differently, After that, I discuss how to re-season cast iron and then revisit the electrical options in a minor and moderate disruption discussion I started in Episode 2 to provide a little extra clarity.
Episode 5 - 03/20/2021 - In Episode 5, I discuss the continued riots in Portland and a surprising reversal from their mayor. As part of that discussion, I take a shot at breaking down Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" by explaining what they are and how you can spot the implementation of his methods in today's society. I wrap up the show by expressing my glee at finally having some court cases to talk about and I relate some insight I picked up on my hunting trip.
Episode 6 - 03/27/2021 - In Episode 6, I kick off the show by discussing current events like how the the Biden administration, the 9th Circuit, and the SCOTUS are taking baby steps toward inhibiting your 2nd Amendment rights and re-interpreting the 4th Amendment. How the ATF and the administration wants to reclassify unfinished receivers as firearms because... ghost guns. Comrade Kamala is gonna fix the border, just you watch. Then I discuss how race hustler Al Sharpton believes that the process known as the filibuster is racist. Seriously. But the left needs the filibuster gone so they can make a concerted and coordinated effort to strip you of your rights AND to shoehorn in another $3T of federal spending for an infrastructure package. Then just for fun, we begin our review of the Federalist Papers.
April 2021 - Episodes 7-10
Episode 7 - 04/03/2021 - In Episode 7, I stick to the basics and speak only to preparedness. No politics allowed this week. I start off the episode by sharing my research on a new Generac product, the PWRcell. With it, Generac becomes a direct competitor to the Tesla and Enphase battery back-up systems. Within that conversation, I also discuss what it means to maintain noise and light discipline. Since I’m focusing on batteries and solar, I pivot to portable solar for when you're bugging out, or for when you're just camping. This of course means a quick discussion on cache's, portability, and the weight of it all for things like water, fuel, and ammo when you have to just Get Out Of Dodge (G.O.O.D.).
Episode 8 - 04/10/2021 - In Episode 8, I start off with a brief reaction to the San Diego Teachers Union and ideas for new books before heading into a review of my stocks and how precious metals have increased in price as a result of certain factors. From there, I pick up and continue my previous week’s preparedness discussion by reviewing the difference between caching and pre-positioning gear, equipment, food, ammo etc. so you don't have to worry about carrying it all and making last minute decisions regarding what to take as you flee. I briefly discuss 'silent' weapons and snares so you can avoid noisy signatures that give away your position and presence. After that, I transition into weighing the pros and cons of incorporating drones into your planning. Also, because water is king when it comes to preparedness, I take some time to discuss gray water systems and how you can benefit by reducing your water usage and repurposing this type of water. As if that weren’t enough, I wrap up the show by discussing bartering and breaking it down into tangible commodities, equivalent value items, and tradeable skills. It’s an information packed episode so give it a listen.
Episode 9 - 04/19/2021 - In Episode 9, I spend the entire show discussing my impressions of the current events taking place in our country... and boy am I pissed! I run through the gauntlet of Biden, Harris, riots, loudmouth Maxine Water, the hypocrisy of left showcased by examining Trump's words vs anyone from the left, cops, ANTIFA, Chris Cuomo, and race and crime statistics, and much more. Any political aspirations I may have had died with this show because no one wants to hear or say what I just recorded. I finish off the show by discussing my dandelion wine production and the acknowledgement that someone in government uttered the words that shall not be named... hyperinflation and default.
Episode 10 - 04/24/2021 - In Episode 10, I continue my passionate discussion from last week regarding the current events taking place in our country. Oddly, this weeks show spends a lot of time on the topic of economics. This is due in large part to Biden's proposed long term capital gains tax hikes and his planned review and explanation of the term hyperinflation. Oh, and Pelosi is trying to make DC a state so they can increase their Senate and House majority... too bad it's illegal, let's discuss. Plus, it wouldn't be a full week in a Hunger Games world without using climate change as a reason for something and a leftist celebrity placing mock outrage on social media. Let's get it on!
May 2021 - Episodes 11-15
Episode 11 - 05/01/2021 - In Episode 11, I start off by discussing current events namely who else (Biden) and what else (jackassery). This devolves into a discussion about the census and the left proving once again that they are the racists. After a shameless self-promotion commercial break touting my non-fiction books, I discuss qualities and aspects of land purchases that many people overlook when they start to fall in love with an area or a specific piece of property. It's a very in depth conversation and covers a lot of material. Give it a listen!
Episode 12 - 05/08/2021 - In Episode 12, I gloss over the current events from a high-level because basically it's all just a train wreck at this point. From there, I get to what I really wanted to talk about which is discussing aspects of preparedness that are close to home. These aspects revolve around maintenance and vigilance when it comes to maintaining your equipment and home but also involves local emergency planning. When it comes to local planning, you need to know and understand any plans that are in place for schools and workplaces in case of emergencies as well as the identification and storage of important documents. Give it a listen! The amusing stories I share along the way are worth your time if for nothing else.
Episode 13 - 05/15/2021 - In Episode 13, I provide my thoughts and observations on the latest low hanging fruit from the Biden jackassery tree and the hacking of the Colonial Pipeline. The ransomware attack forces me to review my holdings to see if there's been a bump in profits due to calamity. After that, I get to my preparedness topic for the week which is gardening. The topics covered go far beyond just planting a tomato plant. In depth topics include methods, DIY soil composition test, pH checks, and a variety of modern and 19th Century tools. Give it a listen!
Episode 14 - 05/22/2021 - In Episode 14, I unveil a dedicated segment of the show titled "The Biden Jackassery Minute." It, more or less, replaces the existing current events topic but gives me a box to try and color within the lines. During this block of time, I’ll review the latest bouts of insanity committed by the current administration. Needless to say, topics are never in short supply. After that, he continues his gardening topic from last week and discusses all of the pros associated with the incorporation of an orchard and ideas for water features. Give it a listen!
Episode 15 - 05/29/2021 - In Episode 15, I hit the ground running with the second installment of my new segment, "The Biden Jackassery Minute." There's plenty of fodder to choose from this week but he zeroes in on the following: Biden's moron of a nominee for the ATF who can't define what an assault rifle is but he knows he wants to ban it, the anti 2A narrative being fulfilled in San Jose, barring GOP Congressional members from the El Paso migrant facility, Comrade Kamala is still MIA, shutting down the investigation into the factual coronavirus origins even though researchers were hospitalized prior to the world knowing about the virus, the wo"man" behind the curtain, judges finally ruling and allowing voter audits in GA and the results of on-going investigations (AZ) - minus the routers of course, U-Haul prices, and he concludes the segment by connecting the dots between all of the Dem tactics applied during the Trump presidency that culminated with the greatest political theft of all time. Tammany Hall tactics have nothing on what the Dems pulled off in 2020. After that, I check my stocks and then head into the preparedness topic of the week which is long term food storage. I review methods for storage (quickly), suppliers, pricing, and making sure that the number of servings aligns with basic math. Give it a listen!
June 2021 - Episode 16
Episode 16 - 06/05/2021 - In Episode 16, I skip the "The Biden Jackassery Minute" segment for this episode and instead discuss topic and options that you can employ over the course of the summer to keep building your knowledge base. Before that though, I direct your attention to my website (davidjkershner.com) by way of my Garden Maintenance blog post and updates to the Precious Metals page. I also announced that there are a few promo codes left for FREE copies of the first four parts of his fiction series in audio format. So send me an email at djkpublishinghouse@gmail.com or use the Contact page on this website to get your codes. After all of that shameless self-promotion, I relate a story about patio lights and helping the helpless in a big box store. Then I conclude the process of shutting down the podcast for the summer by discussing ways to keep yourself in the know and building toward your goal via books, websites, and newsletters. Give it a listen!
August 2021 - Episode 17
Episode 17 - 08/28/2021 - In Episode 17, I end my summer hiatus and quickly return to form to skewer bumbling stumbling Biden for his summer of jackassery. Elections have SERIOUS consequences people! I even wrote an article on my blog about what it meant to have been so lucky as to have been born an American. After that, I cover my summer exploits dealing with home maintenance and water mitigation.
September 2021 - Episodes 18-20
Episode 18 - 09/04/2021 - In Episode 18, I do my usual bit, albeit modified, and discusses some current events, checks my stocks, provide some insight on protecting your investment, then I do a quick check of the spot prices for gold and silver. After the usual business is addressed, I welcomed my friend Scott Boles into my dining room for my first ever interview. Scott is a local small business owner with several restaurants operating in the surrounding area. The interview ran quite long so Episode 18 contains Part I of their discussion. Over the course of the entire interview though, the pair discuss numerous topics associated with the business including just in time inventory, supply chains, cash flow, COViD, inflation, employee retention, and how the current political climate and state level decisions are screwing him seven ways from Sunday.
Episode 19 - 09/12/2021 - In Episode 19, I come out of the gate and immediately begin railing against stumblin' bumblin' Biden and his feckless administration in the "The Biden Jackassery Minute." So much for not mandating vaccinations. Not only was that a lie to begin with, he even proposed a 6-point plan. Granted, he likely just read the words and the plan belongs to Soros and the DNC. Democrats should never be allowed near public office... EVER! Pivoting to finance, Dave discusses his stocks and the Treasury Department stating that the country will be broke in October for the first time in the nation's history. She didn't say 'default,' which would have caused a near immediate global collapse, she said broke. I finish the episode by discussing the least sexy part of preparedness in important documents and their location and storage.
Episode 20 - 09/18/2021 - In Episode 20, I dedicate the entire show to the "Biden Jackassery Minute" segment as I review the latest gaffes and administrative malfeasance. How the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff doesn’t get charged or court-martialed for treason soon is beyond me. Kroger issues inflation warnings on your grocery bill. Thanks for nothing Biden… and Newsom survives but the latest CNN reporter might not.
October 2021 - Episodes 21-25
Episode 21 - 10/02/2021 - In Episode 21, I go after the hypocrisy and calamity created by this administration in the "Biden Jackassery Minute." I spend some time discussing the Russia Hoax that was, Biden-nomics and the fact that no Democrat has ever apparently taken an economics class, vax mandates affecting the labor force, and another crap nominee by Biden. Then I share a nearly five-minute audio snippet from Part 1 of my five-part fiction series... because you should always be selling! I conclude the show with a brief discussion on end of season activities like seed harvesting and why it's important.
Episode 22 - 10/09/2021 - In Episode 22, I can't even bring myself to say the idiot's name that headlines the "***** Jackassery Minute." Regardless, I do spend some discussing how the left caused their own problems as it pertains to these new 'domestic terrorists' that are finally standing up to school boards and the blatant indoctrination. I also discuss the supply chain problems plaguing our country and the whereabouts of wunderkind Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg. After that, I turn my attention to some recommendations I made to a friend regarding basic 'vehicle repair totes,' 'get home bags,' and solar panel battery backups.
Episode 23 - 10/23/2021 - In Episode 23, I still can't bring myself to say the idiot's name that headlines the "***** Jackassery Minute." This week, I start off the show discussing a potential AOC challenger in NY14. From there, I pivot to explore the education vein from last week regarding how the left continues to cause their own problems. As a result of their feckless leadership, homeschooling rates have increased dramatically and now the progressive ideologies have a competitor in Bill Bennett's, "The Story of America." After that, I turn my attention toward the preparedness topic of livestock.
Episode 24 - 10/27/2021 - In Episode 24, I make the announcement that I’m splitting the podcast into two episodes a week. The mid-week episodes will be exclusively preparedness centric while the weekend episodes will be the "He Who Shall Not Named" Jackassery Minute. Therefore, this first mid-week episode discusses the need for accurate inventory, preparing for the increasing inflation rates by purchasing in bulk, and creative ways to package, repackage, and store purchased goods in the correct proportions.
Episode 25 - 10/30/2021 - In Episode 25, I present my first “official” stand-alone "He Who Shall Not Be Named" Jackassery Minute episode. I start off with a review of OHSA implementing the vax mandates, hiding adverse reactions to the vax, and businesses telling them and the administration to pound sand. From there, I discuss the Virginia Governor's race and the uphill climb Dems have in front of them... and who isn't all for Dems having to constantly trudge uphill? After that, I discuss the supply chain, China's controlling interesting in our ports, and this administrations hatred of the American people (aka the non-elites). I do manage to say the fools name one time, but it was only because he was reading a quote. I still am not willingly saying it as part of my commentary. It's the little things, right? I end the show by discussing a local school board election and the typical leftist response before reviewing what can only amount to yet another failed attempt to curb our Second Amendment rights in H.R. 127.
November 2021 - Episodes 26-33
Episode 26 - 11/03/2021 - In Episode 26, I provide some updates on battery backups. Technology changes pretty fast. Therefore, I review the latest information on the Tesla Powerwall II, Enphase Ensemble, and the Generac PWRcell as a company (Solar Surge) has put new videos on YouTube weighing the pros and cons of each in head-to-head comparisons. I also provides some insight for those newer faces to preparedness and self-sufficiency with regard to building up their knowledge bases.
Episode 27 - 11/06/2021 - In Episode 27, I discuss the week that was in terms of election results and look ahead to what's in store for the 2022 elections. After that, I turn my attention to vax mandates and “He Who Shall Not Be Named” wanting to go after companies with LESS than 100 employees now that OHSA is handling the big fish 100+ employers. Oh, and speaking of vaccines and mandates, I thought it might interesting to do a bit of deep dive into the stock prices for these vaccine producers.
Episode 28 - 11/10/2021 - In Episode 28, my midweek preparedness show revolves around several topics. Honestly, it's obvious I need Adderall or something as I bounces all over the place (in a good way) while discussing topics like websites, books, the procurement of canned goods and consumable commodities, stock rotation, and quite a few things relating to each. Not a bad listen if you can keep up! Throughout the show though, I stress the need to build out your knowledge base. The wider your knowledge base, the more prepared you are, the more self-sufficient you are. Which means, you can survive more and endure more than the ones that are neither prepared nor self-sufficient.
Episode 29 - 11/13/2021 - In Episode 29, I start off the show by discussing BLM threats to the mayor-elect of NYC if he follows through and reimplements plain clothes officers then pivots to Comrade Kamala declaring the jury selection process is racist. You know what else is apparently racist... gerrymandering. So I get into that topic too as it pertains to Jim Jordan out of Ohio. As if that weren't enough, "He Who Shall Not be Named" wants to shut down another pipeline. Supply chain issues persist so I discuss that and go through the list of GOP members that voted for this infrastructure nonsense. But there's more. A pending food crisis and hyperinflation is potentially looming too.
Episode 30 - 11/17/2021 - In Episode 30, my midweek preparedness show discusses several topics as usual. This week, my topics include my concealed carry renewal and I finally get to the articles regarding raising quail and chickens. Staying in relatively the same vein for the remainder of the show, I also discusses wild game nutrition numbers while managing to give himself a shout-out for the nutritional information contained in his Preparing to Prepare non-fiction book for fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Should always be selling, right? He finishes off the show with a list of seven domestic animals that are easy to raise.
Episode 31 - 11/20/2021 - In Episode 31, I start off the show with some local developments regarding Ohio's concealed carry laws then present a humorous list of some of the bigger MSM misses as I work my way towards the WAPO story edits and redactions as it pertains to the Steele Dossier. After that, I discuss election integrity issues in Michigan. If a Dem can cheat, they will. I finish off the show with a review of the Oklahoma National Guard balking at the vax mandate and the incremental advancements made by GOP members that may be a sign of the oft quoted 'red wave' in the 2022 midterms.
Episode 32 - 11/24/2021 - In Episode 32, I discuss the single most important decision preppers need to make, bug-in or bug-out. As part of that discussion, I share some insight and things to look for to help you and yours make that determination.
Episode 33 - 11/27/2021 - In Episode 33, I spend the entire episode discussing the Kyle Rittenhouse case. All of the lies, defamation, and trial facts are on the table.
December 2021 - Episodes 34-40
Episode 34 - 12/01/2021 (Preparedness Show) - In Episode 34, my midweek preparedness show discusses personal wellness... because, well, basically, I’m getting over a cold, and it seemed apropos. I specifically speak about Elderberry for increased immune system support and Ashwagandha for its ability to stave off stress, anxiety, depression, and boost brain function. I also spend some time discussing my forthcoming hunting trip and what it means to be a knowledgeable hunter.
Episode 35 - 12/04/2021 - In Episode 35, I start off with some additional information/insight into the three rioters shot by Rittenhouse before turning my attention to the pack of idiots associated with the administration of "He Who Shall Not be Named." Zippy's poll numbers keep dropping and Comrade Kamala's are even worse. No wonder there are rumors of her being replaced... possibly by... Killary?!?! God help us if that evil corrupt wench sneaks into the White House through a backdoor. After all of that, I discuss some happy news in the form of Chris Cuomo getting suspended and Americans buying more guns than ever before!
Episode 36 - 12/08/2021 (Preparedness Show) - In Episode 36, I regale you with stories of the hunting trip to Lake Erie in search of the elusive migrating ducks and geese. After that, I shift gears and pick up a topic I touched on in regard to stocking your pantry from Ep28. In that episode, I discussed an article titled "Walmart Cans Under $1." In this episode, I review an article which details out how to get three months of survival food for under $100.
Episode 37 - 12/11/2021 - In Episode 37, I take aim at more feckless leadership as zippy's DOJ sues Texas over gerrymandering... ummm hypocritical much? After that, I take a look at the November jobs report, tzatziki sauce Psaki's live reaction, and all of this installed administration’s missteps that have led to higher gas prices. I was on a roll so I went on to discuss the Senate vote to nix vax mandates, the non-committal court packing report, and tan shirts getting arrested and finally getting some comeuppance. Before the recording ended the jury came back with the Smollett verdict so I conclude this show by discussing that.
Episode 38 - 12/15/2021 (Preparedness Show) - In Episode 38, I discuss the importance of maps; whether it be for a potential property purchase, hiking, or hunting. From there, I note other cost saving means to procure food after the deal of a lifetime fell into his lap. Then finally, he discusses what he noticed while picking up his renewed license.
Episode 39 - 12/18/2021 - In Episode 39, I start the show discussing why I still think the inhabitant of the White House was installed and the fact that Wisconsin has nearly 2x more fraudulent votes than zippy's margin of victory. From there, I spend some time laughing at the NYT for sending reporters out to learn things sane people already knew... the blue states are the problem. I then explain the possibility of a VP replacement, touches on the 'insurrection', and finishes the show with a review of the debt ceiling increase.
Episode 40 - 12/30/2021 (1st Video Episode) - In Episode 40, I produce my first video-based podcast episode for the Lightning Round. In this inaugural episode, or sorts, I discuss the fact that I’m currently in quarantine as are my wife and youngest daughter. As I get my feet wet with this new medium, I play around with the technology and insert pics with overlaid audio and showcases one of his new commercials. It's an end-of-the-year, 'just for fun,' 'because I can' kind of episode.
